Pinguicula Mehitable, is a charming and distinctive butterwort hybrid created by Bob Beer, affectionately given an “old lady name” because its flower resembles a classic garden pansy. This cultivar is admired for its large, ruffled purple flowers featuring a bright yellow throat, delicate white spotting, and beautifully highlighted purple veining. Its oval-shaped leaves can develop a lovely blush under strong light, adding extra colour even when the plant is not in bloom. Though its full parentage remains uncertain, the mother plant is believed to be Pinguicula agnata ‘Red Leaf’. Elegant yet playful, ‘Mehitable’ is a standout among flowering butterworts.
